The Royal Whiptail Catfish (Sturisoma panamense)
Known as the Royal Farlowella, is a unique and visually striking member of the Loricariidae family. With its long, twig-like body and tail streamers, this catfish stands out in any aquarium. Originating from South America, it is primarily nocturnal but can become more active during the day in well-established tanks with plenty of hiding spots.
This species is peaceful and compatible with most non-aggressive tankmates, though it may pose a risk to very small dwarf shrimp fry. It requires a diet rich in vegetable matter such as sinking algae wafers, fresh vegetables like zucchini and cucumber, and occasional meaty treats like bloodworms.
