The Red Forest Jewels cichlid, native to West Africa spanning from South Guinea to central Liberia, prefers the middle and bottom waters of rivers. Feeding on juveniles, small fish, insects, and spineless species, it sustains itself with a varied diet.

True to its name, the African jewel fish boasts striking beauty. Its body displays vibrant red hues, intensifying to bright purple during periods of excitement or spawning. Greenish spots adorn its body, often featuring a prominent black spot in the center. With a maximum size of 13-15 cm and a lifespan of about 5 years, it adds both color and character to any aquarium.

Red Forest Jewels readily consume all types of fish food, though live foods and frozen brine shrimp enhance their coloration. Including spirulina in their diet further enhances their vibrancy.
