Poormans Glass Catfish
A subtly patterned Asian catfish, also known as the Striped Glass Catfish, that appreciates a calm, shaded aquarium.

Scientific Name: Kryptopterus macrocephalus
Slender body with striped or mottled markings.
Social midwater catfish; keep a group of at least six.
Reaches approximately 10 cm standard length.
 
Care Requirements
Temperature: 20–26°C.
pH: 5.5–7.0, with stable conditions.
Hardness: Soft water, approximately 1–8 dGH.
Aquarium: A footprint of at least 120 × 30 cm; allow space for the whole group.
Diet: Small suitable live or frozen aquatic foods and accepted small prepared foods. Check that every fish feeds.
Setup: Mature filtration, shaded plant cover, wood and open midwater swimming space.
 
Temperament
Generally peaceful but easily unsettled by boisterous tankmates. Choose calm companions too large to be swallowed.

This is the patterned Striped Glass Catfish, distinct from the transparent Ghost Glass Catfish, Kryptopterus vitreolus.
Avoid newly established aquariums and sudden changes in water chemistry.
