SPECIES OVERVIEW
The Platinum Green Tiger Barb is a selectively bred Tiger Barb with a reflective silvery-platinum body, a subtle green-blue sheen, darker fins and reddish accents around the nose. AQUARIUM SETUP
Provide open swimming space with planted margins, driftwood and shaded retreats. Maintain good oxygenation, effective filtration and regular partial water changes. Fit a secure lid and avoid sudden changes in water conditions.
DIET & FEEDING
Omnivorous. Offer quality tropical flakes or small pellets, supplemented with frozen or live foods such as brine shrimp, daphnia and bloodworms. Include some vegetable-based foods. Feed small portions and check that other fish receive their share, as Tiger Barbs are quick feeders.
TANKMATES
Choose robust, similarly active fish with compatible water requirements. Other Tiger Barb colour forms can be kept together in a suitable group. Avoid slow-moving, timid or long-finned fish such as fancy guppies, bettas and angelfish, which are vulnerable to fin-nipping. Monitor compatibility after introduction.
GROUP SIZE
Keep at least eight, preferably ten or more where space allows. A larger group helps spread social interactions, but does not eliminate fin-nipping.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Sold un-sexed. Colour, reflective sheen and fin development vary with age, sex, lighting and individual fish. This is an aquarium colour form, not a separate wild species.
Tiger Barbs are egg scatterers and provide no parental care. Adults may eat eggs and fry; use a separate breeding aquarium if raising young.
Approximate Sale Size: 3 cm. Individual sizes may vary.
