Its subtle beauty resembles moonlight reflecting on still water, giving the species its common name. Native to the slow-moving rivers, swamps, and floodplains of Southeast Asia, this species is appreciated for its calm temperament and ease of care.
Moonlight Gouramis are ideal for peaceful community aquariums and are often seen gliding among floating plants and hiding in shaded areas. Males develop a reddish-orange coloration on the pelvic and anal fins when mature.
