The Gold Ghost Knifefish is an exceptional line-bred variant of the widely recognized Black Ghost Knifefish. Featuring a captivating gold base color with typically assorted dark spotting, it presents a striking appearance. Nocturnal and somewhat timid, these knifefish rely on weak electrical discharges to navigate their surroundings and locate food, a trait common among their kin.
While they grow at a leisurely pace, Gold Ghost Knifefish can attain an impressive size of 14 inches or more, gradually transitioning to prey on smaller fish as they mature. Renowned for their intelligence, they often showcase the ability to recognize their owner and even learn to eat directly from their hands. With time and acclimation to aquarium life, some individuals may even permit themselves to be gently interacted with, adding a unique dynamic to aquatic environments.
