Diet
Omnivorous. Offer:
- Sinking pellets and wafers
- Frozen foods (brine shrimp, bloodworm, daphnia)
- Blanched vegetables (zucchini, spinach, cucumber)
- Algae wafers
Tank Requirements
- Provide caves, rockwork, and driftwood
- Moderate water flow
- Tight-fitting lid (they jump)
- Sand or fine gravel substrate
- Defined territories to reduce aggression
Tank Mates
Suitable:
- Barbs
- Rainbowfish
- Giant Danios
- Larger peaceful mid-top dwellers
Avoid:
- Other “shark” shaped species
- Slow or timid fish
- Long-finned fish
- Very small bottom dwellers
Behaviour
Territorial bottom-zone swimmer. May chase other fish that enter its chosen territory. Active and fast, often patrolling the tank.
Breeding
Not commonly achieved in home aquariums. Commercial farms handle most breeding.
