Diet

  • Live foods: baby brine shrimp, mosquito larvae
  • Occasional vegetable-based foods (spirulina, greens)

A diverse diet promotes maximum colour and vitality.

 

Behaviour

  • Schooling species—keep 6 or more
  • Active swimmers; occupy mid to upper water levels
  • Males display to each other, showing brighter colours
  • Generally peaceful toward tank mates

Avoid:

  • Fin-nippers
  • Large predatory species

 

Breeding Information

  • Breeding Method: Egg scatterer
  • Spawning Sites: Fine-leaved plants or spawning mops
  • Hatching Time: 7–10 days
  • Raising Fry:
    • Feed infusoria or liquid fry foods initially
    • Transition to baby brine shrimp as fry grow

Adults may eat eggs, so a separate breeding setup is recommended.
