The Neon Blue Jewels cichlid, found in West Africa from South Guinea to central Liberia, typically inhabits the middle and bottom waters of rivers. Its diet consists of juveniles, small fish, insects, and spineless species.
True to its name, the African jewel fish is renowned for its stunning appearance. Sporting a body color ranging from red to bright purple during periods of excitement or spawning, it features greenish spots scattered across its body, often with a prominent black spot in the center. With a maximum size of about 13-15 cm and a lifespan of approximately 5 years, it adds both vibrancy and vitality to any aquarium.
Neon Blue Jewels readily consume various types of fish food, though live foods and frozen brine shrimp enhance their coloration. Including spirulina in their diet further enriches their hues.
