Origin: Alto Tapiche, a remote region in Peru
Description: Among the most visually stunning and rare dwarf cichlids, males exhibit mesmerizing blue bodies adorned with multiple rows of red scales forming a zig-zag pattern on their abdomens. Their already striking appearance is accentuated by bright yellow-gold fins. These fish originate from the Rio Tapiche, a predominantly white-water river stained with blackwater from tributaries like the Rio Blanco. The surrounding small streams boast shallow depths, with white sand, small branches, and leaf litter as predominant features.Rarity in Australia: Exceptionally rare, with only 20 known imports to date.

Temperature: 22 – 29°C (preferred at 25°C)
pH: 6-7.8 (Our fish are bred and grown within a pH range of 6.0 to 7.5)
Diet: Primarily carnivorous, feeding mainly on benthic invertebrates in their natural habitat. In the aquarium, offer live and frozen foods such as brine shrimp, daphnia, and blackworms regularly. Most specimens will also adapt to accept dried alternatives, with pelleted products generally preferred over flakes.
