The Alenquer Agassizi’s Dwarf Cichlid (Apistogramma cf. agassizii) is a stunning and rare variant of the superspecies. Adult males boast vibrant blue, purple, and yellow or yellow/orange coloration, while females, though less colorful, still exhibit attractive yellow, black, and red/orange highlights, with plenty of personality.

Thriving in aquariums with sandy substrate and ample refuge like clay pots, driftwood, and rocks, this cichlid is ideal for planted setups but requires open space. Generally peaceful, it can coexist with other fish as long as there's ample room, though territoriality peaks during spawning. Avoid keeping dwarf shrimp and delicate invertebrates with this cichlid, but larger, hardier shrimp and snails can make suitable tankmates in sufficiently large aquariums. Minimize tankmates if spawning is desired.

Feeding the Alenquer Agassizi’s Dwarf Cichlid is straightforward; it readily accepts high-quality dry, frozen, and live meaty foods, ensuring optimal health and coloration through a varied diet.
